2010 Federalist. No. 01, An Overview

2010 Federalist. No. 01, An Overview

Since the adoption of the Constitution, we have been changing our government through Amendments, Laws, Executive Orders, Bureaucratic Decrees and Judicial Reform. Most of these issues have weakened the power of the States and the people while strengthening the central government. Additionally, we have moved from a citizen government where offices are filled by citizens who do whatever perceived duty they have and then return home to their jobs and families to a government manned by professional office holders. This has further weakened the citizens’ authority and granted that authority in great amount to government bureaucrats and the members of the two dominant political parties that set the rules within each house of Congress.

One could propose that these changes have been made necessary by current events ensuing after the ratification of the Constitution. Tremendous population growth, as well as geographical growth has certainly been a part of these changes. Extreme changes in communication techniques and abilities have played a large role in the evolution of the country. And certainly wars, financial disasters, private enterprises grown huge and powerful and international treaties have had their effects. In general, all of these have led to a bigger and more powerful central government.

Changing this is not going to be easy. Change will actually have to be made by many people in powerful offices who will have to agree to have that power diminished. They may actually have to be removed from office and replaced by patriots before the changes can be effected. Additionally, others who may be powerful in their own commercial and personal circumstances are going to have to agree to become involved at reduced fame and fortunes to work for the public good until this condition is corrected. Alexander Hamilton described this much more eloquently in “Federalist. No. 1”. But the same issue is before us now. For the United States of America to continue as the greatest nation on earth, some current principals of government are going to have to revert to those basics put into effect by the Constitution before it was distorted into its present condition.
I do not intend to promote any individual for any position. I do not intend to suggest that any specific path of action be taken by our government. I suspect that there are men greater than I for that purpose. I do, however, propose to write a series of essays about the changes that have occurred and their obvious consequences along with how these can be corrected by returning our government to its original purpose. I am sure that a torrent of opinions will arise from others as these essays become available and known. There will be a war of words and opinions from all sides. But if we all keep in mind that the survival of our country such that our own personal fortunes and desires are allowed to be achieved by our own efforts unencumbered by an overriding tax rate and a tome of federal directives, we should be able to come up with a series of actions that will lead us out of the danger that now faces us from inside our country.
I will provide in these essays as much information as I have from current events and how they affect our nation and our personal lives and those of our children. Much background will be drawn from the Federalist Papers as well as the Constitution and Amendments and The Declaration of Independence. The essays will reflect the very personal position of the author and not that of any other person. They will certainly not be swayed by the input of any person seeking power over others.

I propose in a series of essays to discuss the following;

1. Each Article and section of the Constitution that has been disfigured to negatively affect our current form of government,
2. The problems caused by each of the changes that have occurred in our constitution and method of government,
3. The necessity of a Government OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE,
4. The problems created by these changes, and lastly
5. Why these changes are necessary and what improvements each will provide to the citizens of the United States of America.
Where I am aware of alternative arguments, I will discuss them and render an opinion. My opinions will be presented as mine and preferred by me while those of others will carry their own weight as I know them. These will be my essays; others may present their own. I sincerely hope these get distributed widely and that great interest and discussion follow. There would be no better outcome than our nation returning to its greatness by allowing its citizens to act on their dreams and achieve as much as is possible through their own efforts and fortunes.

God Bless the United States of America

Citizen 2010
